Ratings   (explanation of our rating system)

Global rating :
Quite isolated, this ryokan is reached by taking a small mountain road leaving from the entrance of the Shirayama Super Forest Road (linking to Okuchi-mura in Ishikawa-ken and Shirakawa-go in Gifu-ken). After 8-9 km, at the end of the road, the ryokan can be seen. Its entrance is quite uninspiring, but visitors are warmly welcomed. But obviously, the single outside bath is worth the trip.

Size :
There are segregated inside baths, but they look more like a classical sento bath than anything else. A small path leads however men and women to the single rotenburo (thus a mixed one), which is located a couple of meters away from the ryokan, and surrounded by high trees. The rotenburo is made of large stone, and has a more or less circular shape, with a rock in it. It is not very large, but can comfortably accommodate 6-8 persons.

View :
The view is limited, as the bath is surrounded by a small wood and many vegetation, but still the feeling is very pleasant; the nearby ryokan seems far, and there are no really other buildings visible.

Modesty :
Changing rooms are located next to the segregated inside baths. Some large towels are available for men and women who wish to soak in the konyoku, making it comfortable even for shy persons.

Area :
Located in a mountainous area, this onsen is quite difficult to reach (not to mention that the 9-km road leading to it is definitively not a highway!). While the area itself is beautiful, and the Shirayama Super Forest Road offers nice scenery, there are only limited attractions around the closest being of course Shirakawa-go.
