Global rating :
This ryokan is situated on a mountain road between Tokyo-to and Yamanashi-ken through the famous Okutama region, hiking place in Tokyo-to. If you continue the road down to Yamashi-ken, you will find yourself surrounding by vineyard. Most production of wine in Japan is produced in this region.

Size :
During a day-trip, you have to choose for the mixed outside bath or for one of the inside bath (men or women ones). We of course tried the outside one. It is situated in a small valley and is divided in two part, one with a kind of roof looking like a dolmen for me. For the size, this bath is not a small one and not the biggest I saw, just the good size for a small ryokan, even bigger than some I saw in big hotels.

View :
Surrounding by tree, at about 20 meters from the main ryokan building. Really a good place to enjoy the colors of the tree during autumn or the snow during winter. I recommend this two periods to make a visit over there.

Modesty :
If you are afraid to bath in a mixed bath, you can use the inside ones. For the outside one, you can find separate changing room and the bath is situated away from any road.

Area :
As we did, take the road to Okutama from Tokyo, enjoy the colors of the tree, stop by this onsen on the way to Yamanashi-ken and enjoy wine tasting at one of the many wine producers situated in the Kofu region. In conclusion, the best season to go over there is probably autumn, a little after the wine harvest.

Comment

We arrived at this onsen around one o'clock and had the outside bath as private bath for one hour which is quite appreciable.
