Visiting an onsen is probably the quitessential Japanese experience. One of the most geologically active place on Earth, Japan is usually known for its volcanoes and earthquakes; as a consolation though, this country is blessed with thousands of hot springs (onsen), found often in a luxurious nature.
Of course, the best way to enjoy an onsen is to stay in a nearby ryokan - a traditional japanese hotel. However, for both practical and financial reasons, this is not always possible. Instead of postphoning your trip to an onsen, you can also enjoy a daytrip to some of the most famous onsen in Japan...
We wish to introduce some of them to you in those pages.
