After Agada's demise, this is the only Israeli restaurant left in town. Good food, simple environment, low prices. Like the defunct Adama and Agada, it serves dishes that, although they contain no meat, can satisfy the palate of those like me who are carnivorous. But Shamaim does have what most people know as Doner Kebab, and is therefore ideal for vegetarians and carnivorous alike. They have a 2000 yen all-you-can eat set that is guaranteed to satisfy you. They give you anything on the menu: Baba Ganoush, Falafel, Hummus, Pita Bread, and so forth, in any amount you wish.
Two years after (1999): Shamaim is still good, but it has lost part of its quality and gone industrial.

Reader T.F. sends his comments on Shamaim (Juanuary 2005) : The all-you-can-eat course is a great way to enjoy the food at Shamaim. For 2000 yen you get an assortment of dishes which you can then ask for "top-ups" again and again. The spicy vegetarian soup is wonderful and very warming on a cold night. Other dishes we were served with the all-you-can-eat course were: rice and lentils, pita, hummus, herb fried chicken, cucumber tomato and pinenuts salad, falafel, spiced carrots, cabbage and dill, spicy tomato sauce and kebab.
The food is simple, but great. Nothing flashy, but sure to please.
To the best of my knowledge this is the only Israeli restaurant in Tokyo. Have had some great nights there with friends when we've had a hankering for good quality hummus and falafel. Menu suits vegetarians and meat-eaters.

Access : Get out of Ekoda Station, south exit, take the street between McDonalds and the bank, turn right at the first intersection after perhaps 10 meters and you will see the sign. Easy as pie.
