Check the Oze guide at : http://www.secret-japan.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=67

It is not very far from Numata, and the hiking possibilities are really nice there!

If you prefer more "mountain" hikes, the journey starting at Tanigawadake : http://www.secret-japan.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=714 and linking the Gunma and the Niigata prefecture is really a good option. The hike is pretty long, but you can take a train from Numata, and then a cable car, so access is pretty straight forward.

Thank you, Oze seems to be a good option. The beginning of the hike is in the same valley than Oigami (where I will stay), and the landscape in Oze is beautiful.

By now I hope you've had a chance to discover all the great hiking available in Gunma. I've done several hikes on Akagi and Haruna and Hotaka. I regret not getting over to Myougi-san.

There is lots of great cycling as well. Just follow the east side of Tonegawa down to Shibukawa, cross to the west bank and you will be at the north end of a whole network of cycling roads that follow the rivers. Or you could ride up to Katashina for a challange (take Rt 62 the 267 if you want avoid the climb over the first pass on Rt 120).
