It looks like a very good itinerary for me and what that would let you experience the place in a very straightforward and advancing manner.  I have been on a 10 day tour to Japan and though there were just 4 cities we actually went to, it was not enough to get us around the places that we actually loved and liked. it would be really nice to get to it again and with more time, on this trip.
