Sorry for the late reply : I hope the information will still be useful to you. Didn't have time to reach Genbikei but Geibikei was a really nice experience !

Did anyone make the round trip from Ichinoseki - JR to Hiraizumi - bus to Genbikei - JR back to Ichinoseki? Is it realistic to make this tour in grosso modo 5 hours?
It has been a long time but I just checked the time of my pictures and 5 hours are enough : I took the bus from Hirazumi at 10 AM and I was back in Hiraizumi at 14h45. If you like to do a lot of things in a day and don't mind waking up early, I would recommend to visit Chûson-ji really early in the morning and then go to Geibikei. I was on a Seishun-18 at that time and I have managed to do all that and even reach Miyako to spend the night there. :wink:
