I had the opportunity to test this whale restaurant Yûshin / 鯨専門店 勇新 yesterday, together with two members of this forum :) ! I was really surprised by the quality of the served dish, as well as by the very reasonable prices.

The restaurant is pretty small, with 5-6 tables and sharing its premises with a specialized shop in whale products, as isanatori explained in the post above. There are several teshoku (sets) to choose from, starting from as low as 1050 yen. Sets at 2000 yen include even whale sashimi, which was one of the best whale shashimi I had so far. The whale karaage as well as the whale cheese katsu are very good choices, too. All those sets are served with rice, pickles, miso soup and some extra small dishes.

The owner spend time with the customers, and will probably be delighted to have more foreigners testing those very traditional Japanese dishes.

A strong recommendation.
